英国的“幽浮魔点”（实际上本片拍摄时间更早），怪物的灵活程度和体积直逼八十年代版，不过特效奇观还是收敛了些。影片核恐惧主题的表达尤为强烈，小男孩的父母讲出了最直白尖锐的控诉，第三幕的静电干扰音效甚至盖过了台词，而结局的小插曲，代表着博士理论的不完整，也是编剧保留的危机意识和怀疑态度
