　　故事发生在1917年，威尔（麦肯齐·阿斯丁 Mackenzie Astin 饰）过着和父亲杰克（约翰·泰瑞 John Terry 饰）相依为命的生活，不幸的是，意外发生了，杰克失去了生命，留下形单影只的威尔，他不仅要想方设法自己照顾自己，还要想办法照看父亲位于南达科他州的农场，他最需要也最缺少的，就是钱。
